Cardiovascular and respiratory diseases account for a significant proportion of global morbidity and mortality, placing an immense burden on healthcare systems and economies in Quebec, across Canada, and worldwide. At McGill University, pioneering research in this field enables the development of innovative treatments and preventive strategies, significantly improving patient outcomes and quality of life. By exploring the molecular, genetic, and clinical aspects of cardiovascular and respiratory health, our research contributes to shaping precision medicine approaches, facilitating early detection, and driving advancements in personalized therapies.

Dear Med-3 and Med-4 students,

As you have likely heard, the government tabled new legislation this morning. If adopted by the National Assembly, Bill 2 could come into effect as early as Saturday. It addresses, in a renewed form, several matters once included in Bill 106. We are following this rapidly evolving situation closely to understand the implications for your education.

Since the pressure tactics began six weeks ago, we sent you contingency plans for the week ahead each Friday. Given how quickly things are changing, we are not yet able to provide you with a definite plan for next week. We will send you detailed plans for next week no later than Sunday at 6 p.m. We ask you to please monitor your email carefully.

It is possible that clinical rotations could resume as early as this Monday, so we ask you to remain available. Those on rural rotations may be slightly delayed to give students appropriate travel time. We will be in touch with those assigned to rural rotations when we know more.

We recognize that this continued uncertainty may be stressful for you. We are doing everything we can to support you and commit to keeping you informed.
