
Vascular Surgery Clinical Electives
Overview
Medical students interested in vascular surgery as a potential career or seeking additional exposure are welcome to apply for a clinical elective.
- Duration: Minimum of 2 weeks (shorter electives are not accepted)
- Setting: Rotations available at McGill teaching hospitals
- Role: Students function as junior residents — dividing their time across:
- 🏥 Operating Room
- 🩺 Outpatient Clinics
- 🚑 Emergency Department
- 🛏️ Ward Services

Key Learning Objectives

By the end of the elective, students will:
- Function as junior residents within the vascular surgery team.
- Gain skills in clinical assessment of vascular disease.
- Observe and/or participate in operative cases.
- Understand the perioperative management of complex vascular patients.
- Participate in conferences and academic activities unique to McGill Vascular Surgery.
